Creative Strategist + Writer
Hi, I’m Carmen. I’m a writer and creative from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Yes, this place. I moved to Los Angeles after finishing college in Texas. I started out working odd jobs that didn’t pay very well, but I did get to sleep on a tour bus at Bonnaroo and sell adult coloring books.
My brand career began as a production coordinator for GreenLight Media (Live Nation) where I worked on projects for Spotify, Hyundai, Nixon, and Ultimate Ears. I spent the last five years working as an in-house Creative Strategist at WMX (Warner Music Group) where my role consistented of pre-sale copywriting and ideation and providing creative direction for sold brand campaigns including Modelo, T-Mobile, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. While there, our studio team won a few awards, which was very flattering. My coworkers used to call me “carmesan” like “parmesan” which I think is very fun and cute. Now, I am a freelance writer. I write essays for magazines, email and social campaigns for non-profits, and copy for brands. I like being in conversation with culture and figuring out the most artful and impactful way to communicate a message.
When I am not writing copy, I’m in a very rad book club. I go to my local farmer’s market every weekend where I come up with things to cook, usually something involving roasted tomatoes. One day, I’ll get around to finishing my novel and learning to grow my own herbs.
